gift guide 2019 | posted: Invalid date

Your little princess is likely into pink, rainbow unicorns and anything that glitters. Their room is full of Barbies, Disney Princesses and My Little Pony and you want to get them an educational gift as an alternative to more toys or sugar. Look no further! Our 4 year old toddler experts have assembled a tried and true list of seven good gifts your little ones will love.

1.
Unicorns & Rainbows Coloring Book

BUY ON AMAZON

If it is pink, glitters or involves unicorns, our 4 year old girls are IN! This is a small item that serves as a cheap candy alternative stocking stuffer or birthday gift from grandma. Roll it up with a brand new pack of crayons and a hair tie and this gift is in the bag!

2.
Kwik Stix Quick Dry Tempera Paint Sticks

BUY ON AMAZON

We've tried Crayola's competitor brand sticks and they just don't stand up to these kwik stix brand sticks. These dry very fast and are considerably less messy. They're as vibrant as paint without the aftermath! And for the price, you can outfit your whole grandkid clan, preschool classroom or toddler daycare. Also see previous gift idea for an awesome coloring book to pair with these!

3.
Carnival Tickets!

BUY ON AMAZON

Get your tickets! Literally hours of fun to be had pretend playing to be a train conductor, carnival attendant, movie usher and many other toddler inspired reasons you might need a ticket. They're also very fun to unroll and drape as playroom decoration!

4.
Toilet Paper Tube Craft Idea Book

BUY ON AMAZON

The 5 Minute Craft Kids videos on YouTube are great (and rather addictive), but there is something about a physical book for a toddler that can't be replaced by screens. There are how to instructions to create everything from owls to fish to motorcraft in this book, and it has sparked some very contagious creativity in our household. Not to mention the recycling is good for the Earth! We also can't wait to try their partner books about egg cartons and paper plates!

5.
Backyard Bird Songs Songbook

BUY ON AMAZON

Ok, last book we promise. This one is top-notch! It has bite size information about several backyard birds and plays the bird song when you push the corresponding button. Don't believe in it? Our 4 year old can identify mourning doves, blue jays and crows when she hears them outside at the playground. That's impressive! We've tried their night animals book and found it to be less impressive - the animal sounds are hard to mimic, and you don't really find yourself outside at night often enough to recognize them.

6.
Magnet Tile Blocks

BUY ON AMAZON

These lovely magnetic tiles are fantastic for developing fine motor skills and problem solving. And with all the different colors, your little princess can build a castle that is both beautiful and engineered to be structuraly sound! Another bonus is that grabdma and grandpa can add extra expansion packs for birthdays to come.

7.
Stencils!

BUY ON AMAZON

We like big stencils during our toddler art sessions. We practice shape recognition and telling stories, and she really loves it! This kit comes with 16 stencils, 25 sheets of paper, 10 colored pencils (not our favorite thing to do stencils with), 1 sharpener (we remove this after we open it), and a 3-color pen (again, we prefer Crayola skinny washable markers). It's a great gift!
